Understanding Self Explore Self Plan and Connect Transition to work

Career Launch Maintenance Update - 7 March

Published 7 March 2018 @ 02:14 PM, by Adam Clayton

The Career Launch workflow has been updated on CareerHub. Please read below to learn more about the latest changes.

1. Update to 'E1: Demonstrate Knowledge of General Labour Market Trends and Career Options' - 'Discover potential employers' to now be a two step process:

1. download the 'My Placement Contact Sheet Template', and
2. complete the 'EXPLORE OPTIONS: Discover potential graduate employers' form.

2. The 'My Placement Contact Sheet Template' in 'E1: Demonstrate Knowledge of General Labour Market Trends and Career Options' - 'Discover potential employers' does not award any points. 5 points can only be awarded from the completion of the 'EXPLORE OPTIONS: Discover potential graduate employers' form.

Notes: This change will ensure that you get the most out of the activity and provide consistency across other workflows that use the same features.

3. All learning outcomes (U1 - U4, E1 - E4, P1 - P4, T1 - T5) no longer collapse until all activities are complete.

Notes: This allows users to see what other activities they are able to complete for the learning outcome.

1. The 'UNDERSTAND SELF: Identify character strengths' now has the following note: “(Note: the VIA survey is free to complete however you will need to register in order to receive your results. You can unsubscribe at any time).”

Looks like Career Launch is blasting off again in 2018 Launchers!

We're excited to be launching again in 2018 and there is no better place to start now! Share the news with your friends and get ready for another exciting year!

Program updates - 13 February 2018

There has been a number of changes to the program that we want you to know about:

  • Completion certificates have had a shake up. Starting from 2018, certificates are awarded on levels the following points acquired:
    1. Bronze: 50 points
    2. Silver: 100 points
    3. Gold: 150 points
    4. Platinum: 200 points
    5. Diamond: 250+ points

If you acquired enough points for a completion certificate in 2017 you will not receive a revised completion certificate based off your points acquired. However you will receive a certificate if you reach the point requirement for the next certificate level.

  • Houston's Thoughts has been renamed to Adam's Thoughts and will be blogging frequently. Previous posts from Houston will still remain in the blog.
  • Some activities have been reordered - that way the fun stuff can be done ;).
  • Some activities have been reworked to provide you with a better experience.
  • Weekly maintenance now runs from 1:30pm to 2:30pm every Wednesday afternoon. During this time the Launch Pad, along with some activities, will not be available and a list of changes will be posted here in Adam's Thoughts.
  • The opportunity to earn bonus points has been removed as this provided some technical issues.

Looks like I'm transitioning to work guys!

Published 7 September 2017 @ 02:01 PM, by Houston

I just completed the Career Launch Quiz launchers and just wanted to share my results with you.

I got "Transition to Work" which both sort of makes sense, and at the same time doesn't. As you know, I'm already working with a great team that is Career Launch, but often I'm left wondering whether there is something more for me out there.

I have an understanding about industry trends cause I'm always keen to up-skill, but I don't really have an up-to-date resume or LinkedIn profile. So I guess I'll start with the Create an Impressive Resume activity or attend one of those Resume and Cover letter workshops.

Were you surprised by your quiz result or did you think it was pretty much on track? What are you doing to do to move forward? I'm really keen to know so leave a comment below :D

See you next time Launchers!
